About us

Stichting Erfgoed Nederland Indonesia (SeNI: Dutch Indonesian Heritage Foundation) focuses on preserving heritage buildings in Indonesia, particularly in Jakarta. We work together with Dutch and Indonesian institutions or initiatives on heritage in Indonesia in renovating and preserving historical structures.

Many historical buildings are located in Central and North Jakarta. Thus, SeNI also does historical research into the background of these areas. We take part in conferences and symposiums. SeNI strives to make historical buildings available for a period of time to allow young academics or architects to further develop their knowledge and insight of the heritage site.

Our scope of work

Background

SeNI evolved from the Foundation Committee Gift Indonesia (SCCI: Indonesian Gift Committee Foundation). SCCI was set up in June 1995 to present a cultural gift to Indonesia for its 50th independence anniversary. This private initiative, generously supported by a wide range of Dutch companies, led to the renovation and restoration of the 18th-century Reinier de Klerk home, or more commonly known as the Gedung Arsip Nasional (National Archives Building), in the historical center of Jakarta, or Kota.
